Amy Odell is a writer and editor based in New York City. While studying journalism at NYU, she fell in love with writing and decided to make it her ambition to create media that would empower women.
After nearly a year of covering events for New York magazine—interviewing everyone from Bill Clinton to Marc Jacobs to Sarah Jessica Parker—she came on staff as the founding writer and editor of their fashion blog The Cut, which she turned into the number-one fashion news source on the Internet, receiving more than one million unique visitors a month. During her time at The Cut, Odell was featured in Elle, Japanese Elle, Italian Vogue, Grazia U.K., and Refinery 29, and was mentioned several times in the New York Times's Style section. She also made TV appearances on NBC's local nightly news, Inside Edition, and The Insider.
She is the founder and editor of Shift, a women’s-interest section at BuzzFeed that receives around 8 million unique visitors a month. Odell's work has appeared in New York magazine, BuzzFeed, Gawker, The New York Observer, Glamour, Grazia U.K., The Guardian, and Bloomberg Businessweek. She also appears regularly on TV, including the Today show and CNN Headline News.
