Yuri Malenchenko

Yuri Malenchenko is a Ukrainian-Russian cosmonaut who has spent three years in space collectively. Malenchenko’s career includes many wild stories including a crash landing in Kazakhstan and his wedding to Ekaterina Dmitriev in which he became the first person to marry in spaice (she was in Texas while he was 240 miles over New Zealand.) The commander on multiple forays into space, Malenchenko has collectively spent over a year and a half in space. Throughout his career, Malenchenko has been awarded a Hero of the Russian Federation medal, a National Hero of Kazakhstan medal, a Military award of excellence, three Meritorious Service medals, a Commendation medal, an Achievement medal, and a “70 years of the Soviet Armed Forces” medal.
